FOCUS ON...
Ujamaa Cooperative Homes in Scarborough, Ontario, was designed to house families headed by women of colour. The founding Board wanted us to create a safe and welcoming environment that took design clues from the global South. The building has many informal gathering spaces, floor patterns inspired by traditional housing in Burkino Faso, a colour scheme inspired by the Caribbean.
